Earlier today, employees and students gathered in front of the Golden Eagle Arena to send the team off to state. Staff and students lined the walkway to cheer, wave signs, and take photos as the wrestlers boarded the bus. Lemoore College Campus Police Officer Rossi then provided a police escort from campus to the freeway in recognition of the team’s accomplishments and to honor their trip to the championships.
“This group has been locked in since the beginning of the season,” said Head Coach Botelho. “They put in the work, battled through a tough SoCal Regional, and earned the right to compete with the best in California. I am proud of how they represent Lemoore College every time they step on the mat.”
Lemoore College President James Preston praised the team’s success and the support shown by the campus community. “Our Golden Eagle wrestlers show determination, resilience, and heart,” Preston said. “Qualifying ten athletes for the state championships is a major achievement, and it reflects the hard work of our students, coaches, and support staff. The entire campus is behind them as they compete for state honors.”
The men’s wrestling program is part of Golden Eagle athletics, which supports student-athletes with academic counseling, tutoring, and competitive opportunities that help them succeed both in the classroom and in their sport.
