Hours and Location

The Lemoore Learning Resource Center (LRC) is located in the 400 building on the Lemoore College campus map.

The LRC is closed during all school holidays, including spring break and winter break. Check the West Hills academic calendar for current scheduling.

LRC Library

  • Print and online materials used to support the Lemoore College curriculum.
  • Quiet study tables.
  • Reserve collection of textbooks for courses.
  • Assistance with finding and locating materials online.

LRC e-Learning

  • 75 computer workstations with internet access, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office.
  • Printing:
    • Black-and-white printing: $0.10 per page (200 free pages each semester for students).
    • Additional funds added at the Administration Building.
    • Color printing is not available.
    • Printing is not available to the public.

LRC Study Rooms

  • Study rooms available only to currently enrolled Lemoore College students.
  • Two-hour checkout, renewable once for a maximum of four hours.

LRC Rules of Conduct

  • Maintain a low noise level to respect other students.
  • Beverages in spill-proof containers permitted; snacks allowed in study rooms; no hot food.
  • Inappropriate behavior—including sexual activity, indecent exposure, threats, or harassment—is prohibited.
  • Tobacco products, including electronic cigarettes, are not allowed inside or within 20 feet of the entrance (Ed. Code 7597).

Borrowing

Obtaining a Student ID Card

  • In order to check out library materials (books, study rooms, reserve books, etc.), students must have a valid Lemoore College student I.D. card.
  • Student ID Cards are available at the Eagle Help Desk in the Student Union (Building 900).

Lending Policy

Enrolled students, staff, and faculty may check out items as follows:

  • Books: Three (3) weeks
  • Reference materials, academic reserves, and magazines: In library use only.
  • Users can check out a maximum of six different items.
  • Items may be renewed as long as there are not any current holds placed by other library users.
  • Returning items on time is the responsibility of the borrower.
  • Laptops and hotspots are checked out for the full-semester and must be returned at the end of each semester.

Fines Policy

  • Books: $0.25 per day, per item. Not to exceed $20 per item.
  • Reserve items: $1.00 per hour, per item.
  • Lost or damaged items: $20 processing fee plus cost of book based on vendor price.
  • Overdue items will be assessed a fine.

Course Textbooks on Reserve

  • Students may check out course textbooks for two hours for in library use only.
  • Not all courses will have textbooks on reserve.

Requesting a Hold

  • If a book is checked out, a library user can request a hold on the item:
  • When the book is returned, the user will be notified via their West Hills email that the item is available and is being held for them at the Library.
  • Holds can also be used to transfer items between different West Hills College campus libraries.
  • Students cannot place holds on reserve items.

Faculty Resources

In-Person Library Orientations

  • Librarians can meet in your classroom or a computer lab.
  • Orientations include:
    • General instruction on print and online resources
    • Assignment-specific research instruction
  • Email ask@westhillscollege.libanswers.com to schedule.

Virtual Library Orientation

  • Students can complete the Virtual Library Orientation on their own time.
  • Proof of completion provided:
    • Can be required coursework
    • Or used as extra credit

Guidelines for Placing Materials on Library Reserve

  • When funds are available, the Library may purchase faculty-requested textbooks for Reserve.
  • Faculty must complete the Reserve Request Form .
  • Reserve items are kept in a closed stack area and loaned in two-hour increments.
  • Print books, DVDs, and other materials can be placed on Reserve.
