LEMOORE, Calif. — Lemoore College’s women’s basketball team ended the regular season
with a milestone 20th victory over Taft College, tying the most wins in program history.
With the milestone win, the Golden Eagles advance to host San Mateo in the first round
of the Northern California Regional Playoffs Wednesday, Feb. 25, in the Golden Eagle
Arena. Doors open at 6 PM and the game will start at 7 PM. It marks the first time
the Lemoore College women’s basketball program will host a playoff game.
“We have a very special group that brings energy and joy every time they step on the
court,” said Keshawn Johnson, head coach of Lemoore College women’s basketball team.
“Credit to our student-athletes for showing up every single day with a positive mentality
and credit to my assistant coaches for keeping these student-athletes on track both
on the court and off the court.”
The Golden Eagles’ success was also reflected in conference recognition. Lia Sims,
Savannah Rowland and Chloe Arrington received first team Central Valley Conference
all-conference honors for their outstanding performances and leadership throughout
the season.
“We are so proud of our Golden Eagle student-athletes and excited to host a playoff
game in the Golden Eagle Arena on Wednesday,” said James Preston, president of Lemoore
College. “I hope that our community will show up and show out for this amazing group
of young women who have committed so much time, effort and energy to get to this point.”
The playoff matchup is a California Community College Athletic Association sanctioned
event. Tickets are $12 for general admission and $8 for students, college employees,
military members, seniors and children under 10.
To encourage student support, Lemoore College is sponsoring 100 free tickets for students.
Tickets can be picked up while supplies last at the Eagle Help Desk in the Student
Union beginning Tuesday at 9 a.m.
Community members are encouraged to pack the Golden Eagle Arena and support the Golden
Eagles as they continue their historic season.
