Lemoore College has named alumnus Armando Calderon head coach of its women’s wrestling
program, bringing an experienced coach and former Golden Eagle wrestler back to the
college.
Calderon was a member of Lemoore College’s inaugural wrestling team in 2007 and returns
with coaching experience across youth, high school and 3C2A collegiate wrestling.
“I am honored to champion the development of women’s wrestling and foster athletic
equity for all competitors,” Calderon said.
A longtime assistant coach at Lemoore High School, Calderon helped coach male and
female student-athletes to league and divisional championships, Masters titles and
CIF State Wrestling Championships appearances and medals. He also coached athletes
who competed at the U.S. Marine Corps Junior National Championships in Fargo, North
Dakota, where several earned All-American honors.
Calderon also contributed to the growth of girls wrestling in the region. He assisted
with the inaugural CIF Girls State Wrestling Championships at Lemoore High School,
helped establish the West Yosemite League girls wrestling constitution and served
on the CIF Central Section Girls Wrestling Committee.
Across junior varsity and boys and girls varsity competition, Calderon compiled a
154-40 dual-meet record. His experience also includes coaching men’s and women’s wrestlers
at the 3C2A collegiate level.
“Armando has deep roots in our local wrestling community, and we are excited to welcome
him back to Lemoore College,” Lemoore College Director of Athletics Walter Parham
said. “He understands what it means to be a Golden Eagle, and his experience developing
student-athletes at every level will be an asset to our women’s wrestling program.
We look forward to seeing him lead our student-athletes as they Fly Fearless on the
mat, in the classroom and beyond.”
