Jump Start Internships

The Jump Start model is a four (4) week, project-based internship program for current high school juniors focused on in-demand careers in the region.

Jump Start occurs July 1st - July 24th, Monday - Thursday.

Applications for the 2025 Jump Start programs will be open from January 15 - March 1st @ 11:59pm.

All Jump Start Internships Include:

Transportation to and from campus - if needed

9am to 3pm In-Demand Training

Lunch and Snacks Daily

90 hours of industry training, including 4 days of industry tours

Industrial Technology
Ag & Industrial Technology
Description:
  • Training in electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Focus on processing and manufacturing of agricultural--and related--goods.
  • Focus on industrial manufacturing systems and industrial automation/electrical theory and application.
  • Applicants should be interest in agriculture and general manufacturing.
  • Exploring electrical theory and complex industrial application of electrical technology.
  • This internship qualifies as a registered pre-apprenticeship.


This Jump Start also includes:
  • SACA Industry Certification
  • $1000 Scholarship for Completion 
    90% attendance and active participation requirement for completion
Culinary Skills
Culinary Skills
Description:
  • Accepted interns will explore fundamental food preparation skills, develop competency in safe food handling, and learn knife skills to help them be productive in a fast-paced culinary environment.
  • Applicants should have some demonstrated interest in the culinary industry, or an educational focus that shows how they would like to become involved in the industry.
  • Tours will focus on targeted aspects of the culinary industry and expand broadly to include hospitality, tourism, lodging, events management, restaurants and recreation.
  • This internship qualifies as a registered pre-apprenticeship.

  • $1000 Scholarship for Completion 
    90% attendance and active participation requirement for completion
First Responders
First Responders
Description:
  • Accepted interns will focus on developing skills that centralize the community needs encountered by first responders.
  • Primarily includes law enforcement, fire, and paramedics.
  • Applicants should have a targeted interest in entering public service with some focus on serving the Fresno, Kings, and Tulare County communities.
  • This internship will focus on personal fitness, as related to the requirements of industry, and personal and community awareness to respond decisively and sensitively to the needs of our local community.
  • Tours will center primarily around law enforcement, fire, and social work.

  • CPR Certification
  • $1000 Scholarship for Completion 
    90% attendance and active participation requirement for completion
